John Charles
Some labels chase trends. John Charles has spent over fifty years perfecting one thing: mother of the bride dresses that fit beautifully and photograph better. The London house calls its approach demi-couture, and the beadwork on the rail backs the claim up.
Every collection comes out of the brand's London studio under Creative Director James Ellis, with bespoke fabrics and hand-finished embellishment. The current rail runs from jewel tones like sapphire, teal and violet to soft petals, oysters and mochas, most with the intricate beading the house is known for.
These are dresses for the front pew. Structured, considered and cut to hold their line from ceremony through to the last photograph of the night.
We fit John Charles through styling appointments at the Penarth boutique, where the shapes can be judged properly in the mirror rather than guessed at on a screen. Bring your shoes, and we will do the rest.
